The

NFSA full form in ration card is the National Food Security Act. Under the Act of NFSA ration cards are issued. Ration cards help customers buy food grains at subsidised rates. The NFSA ration card is also a crucial document which is required for identification.

Let me give you a brief introduction to what is NFSA ration card.

What is NFSA in ration card?

So, apparently, there are two types of ration cards. One is the TPDS ration card. This card helps customers buy food at a subsidised rate based on the state governments’ identification.

 

The National Food and Security Act (NFSA) was passed to provide an amount of food at a lower rate. Under the NFSA, the state government has provided two types of ration cards. The two types of ration cards under NFSA are Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH).

  Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)  

  • This type of ration card is issued to impoverished families identified by the state governments.

  • Citizens such as unemployed people, women and old people belong to this category.

  • Eligible families receive up to 35 kg of food grain every month.

  • Food grains are available at a subsidised rate of Rs.3 per kg for rice, Rs.2 per kg for wheat and Rs.1 per kg for coarse grains. 

  Priority Household (PHH)

  • Families who do not belong to AAY belong to PHH.

  • PHH cardholders are eligible for 5kg of food grains per person per month.

  • You can get food grains at a subsidised rate Rs.3 per kg for rice, Rs.2 per kg for wheat and Rs.1 per kg for coarse grains for these cardholders.
