Since I am a follower of Vastu Shastra, so before getting the pooja room of my house constructed I decided to contact a Vastu Expert. As my house is south facing I asked the expert about the pooja room Vastu for South facing house. He told me that the best place for a pooja room is in the northeast corner. He said if I want, I can keep them on the east and north sides as well.

What is the South Facing House Pooja Room Vastu?

Besides what I have mentioned above, he also told me to avoid keeping a pooja room in the southwest corner as it is considered inauspicious. Here are a few other tips that he had provided me.

  1. He told me to ensure that all the idols face in one direction and are not facing the door.

  2. There shouldn’t be any items placed over the idols.

  3. According to him, pooja rooms should have light colours, as they radiate positive vibrations and are ideal for worshipping and praying.

  4. He also suggested me to make sure that the pooja room is well-lit after sunset.

These are all the suggestions that the Vastu expert provided me after I asked him about the south facing pooja room Vastu. I hope this helps.

How to Decorate Pooja Room Wall?

I know that a house facing south is not preferred by most of us. But my Pandit Ji told me that with the correct house layout, it can still be made fortunate. I had asked him about pooja room Vastu for south facing house and he told me that the northeast and west directions are usually the best for placing your pooja room if your home has a south-facing Vastu design with a pooja room.

What Should be Pooja Room As Per Vastu for South Facing House?

As I said, northeast or west are the most suitable direction for a pooja room in a south-facing house. When setting up your pooja room in a south-facing residence, there are a few more significant considerations to make in addition to the position. Following are a few pointers:
  • For your mandir, choose wood over metal and stone in terms of materials.
  • Similarly, instead of using cutlery for your pooja room cutlery, choose metals like copper and brass.
  • Additionally, take care not to locate your pooja room next to a restroom where walls are shared.
  • A puja room under a stairway is never a good idea.
  • It should not be situated next to the lavatory.
  • When you sleep, your feet should not face the direction of the puja room.
  • The room should preferably be on the ground level of the house. The south isn't a good place for a puja room at all because Yama, the god of death, rules there.
  • The puja room's roof ought to have a triangle form to it. This will help positive energy flow more smoothly.
My Pandit Ji also told me that while some may believe that purchasing a home with a south orientation should be avoided at all costs, this isn't always the case. Those with a lot of Mars energy in their birth chart may benefit from living in a south-facing home. I hope now you understand about pooja room Vastu for south facing house.
