Since I am a follower of Vastu Shastra, so before getting the pooja room of my house constructed I decided to contact a Vastu Expert. As my house is south facing I asked the expert about the pooja room Vastu for South facing house. He told me that the best place for a pooja room is in the northeast corner. He said if I want, I can keep them on the east and north sides as well.

He told me to ensure that all the idols face in one direction and are not facing the door.

According to him, pooja rooms should have light colours, as they radiate positive vibrations and are ideal for worshipping and praying.
He also suggested me to make sure that the pooja room is well-lit after sunset.

As I said, northeast or west are the most suitable direction for a pooja room in a south-facing house. When setting up your pooja room in a south-facing residence, there are a few more significant considerations to make in addition to the position. Following are a few pointers:- For your mandir, choose wood over metal and stone in terms of materials.
- Similarly, instead of using cutlery for your pooja room cutlery, choose metals like copper and brass.
