I bought a 1 BHK apartment and was planning to rent it. I got in touch with an interior designer to get its interior done. He asked me whether I wanted to use single-charge or double-charged tiles on the floor. I wasn’t aware of what he meant and asked him about the difference between single charge vs double charged tiles.
What is the Difference Between Double Charge and Single Charge Tiles?
The designer gave me a description of what both these types of tiles are
Double Charge Tiles
He told me that double-charge tiles are those that consist of two layers and are created with press moulds. These tiles are more durable and have a double coating over them. These tiles don’t need much care and can last up to 8 - 10 years easily. According to him, the only downside of these tiles is that they are expensive.
Single Charge Tiles
The designer mentioned that single-charge tiles are produced with basic technology, possess a glazed surface on top and are single-layered, making them adaptable in terms of design. However, compared to double-charge tiles, they are weaker and less resilient. The designs over them are printed using liquid colour screen printing. These need more care and attention and are very affordable.
Following this explanation, I finally decided to go with the double-charge tiles as it will be more durable and I will not be required to renovate it frequently. I hope this helps.

However, my interior designer suggested opting for either single-charge or double-charged vitrified tiles. When choosing the appropriate sort of flooring for your space, it is crucial to comprehend the difference between single charge and double charge tiles.
What is single charge and double charge vitrified tiles?- Single charge vitrified tiles:
It is also known as nano-polished soluble salt tiles. These tiles are created by covering the vitrified soluble salt tiles with a layer of liquid silica. This procedure fills the tile's nano or micropores, giving them a glossier appearance and smoother feel than simple soluble salt-vitrified tiles. These tiles require little maintenance and have good abrasion resistance. Single-charge tiles are commonly used in residential spaces and areas with light to moderate foot traffic.
