  • Splitting cylinder test - A concrete cylinder is horizontally positioned between loading surfaces and subjected to compressive loads along its diameter in this test. The cylinder exhibits induced lateral tensile stress, which splits in tension along its diameter. The test is conducted following ASTM C 496.

Moreover, you can calculate the cement ultimate tensile stress from the below relation:

Ultimate tensile stress = failing load / 6.45
