I recently learned that Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) supplies electricity to not just Bangalore but 8 other districts of Karnataka. However, I can tell you
Bangalore electricity unit rate is Rs. 1.15 per unit of power, according to a statement made by BESCOM. These prices applied from the September 2023 BESCOM Electricity Bill Payment Cycle. What is the Electricity Unit Price in Bangalore?
As far as I know, Bangalore's August 2023 electricity rates were Rs. 2.05 per unit, 90 paise more than the September 2023 rates. But recently the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) has been reduced by BESCOM in order to help bill payers like us fulfil other financial obligations and receive respite in paying our BESCOM electricity bills.
According to a statement made public by BESCOM representatives, the Karnataka State Government will pay for the power costs, including the FPPCA costs, for Bangalore residents who are Gruha Jyoti Scheme participants.

Electricity bill charges are really confusing in Karnataka. In the month of June, I got a bill of Rs 17 only. I was so happy and thought that the government was fulfilling their promise to give free electricity to consumers using electricity below 200 units. However, after a week, I checked the bill and saw a bill of Rs. 284. I was both disappointed and annoyed. I became desperate to know the 1 unit current price in Karnataka and researched about it a lot. There are some recent updates about it that I would like to share here.
What is the per unit cost of electricity in Karnataka?
The Karnataka government has increased the electricity rate across the state by Rs. 2.89 per unit. This is done to accommodate the Griha Jyoti Scheme, a scheme to supply electricity for free to households using 200 units or below.
The 1 unit of electricity cost in Bangalore is Rs 1.49 per unit up to 200 units. It means that if your electricity consumption goes above 200 units, you will be charge 70p +70p. The 1 unit electricity cost in Bangalore 2023 seemed really confusing, but I hope now you have understood the rates. The political scenario is making people with electricity consumption above 200 units suffer a lot indeed. I hope that from next month on there will be no bill starting with - and the rates will be fair and true as well.
So this is the 1 unit current price in Karnataka that I am aware of.
