From the outlook, I can say that Mumbai’s cost of living is definitely higher than
Chennai's
due to one factor, housing. A 1 BHK for rent in Mumbai costs anywhere between Rs. 17,000 to Rs. 60,000 based on the area where you live, the house condition and its area. While in Chennai, you can get the same property between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 17,200.
As far as the food is concerned, both are nearly the same with street food and restaurant options.
