I loved watching Food Factory on the Discovery channel. It showed how foods like

candies, cookies, ice cream, chips and more get prepared in factories. So recently another video regarding building construction on Facebook excited me. I started watching it with full attention and even later tried to know what is LGSF Construction since they were mentioning this term thoroughly.  It is one of the latest ways to build more buildings within a very short time.

   What does LGSF structure mean?

LGSF stands for Light Gauge Steel Frame. They are made of cold-formed steel and used to construct standardised light-framed residential buildings. The best part is they are very easy to install and thus can be done within a really short time. Some other advantages of it are:

  • Allows great flexibility

  • Reduces carbon footprint

  • They are strong, robust and ductile

  • Zinc coating does not let it get rusted easily

  • Lighter than wood or other concrete products

  What are some of the disadvantages of LGSF?

LGSF buildings have some cons as well like:

  • Lose their strength in a fire

  • High maintenance cost

  • Accurate measurement makes the work full of hassles

  • It might not get rusted easily but once it does, it loses its strength

It is hard to say what will be the LGSF construction cost. It will vary on a number of factors like
