The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) was launched by the Indian government in 2015 with the goal of making affordable housing available to all citizens by 2022. The government's goal with this credit-linked subsidy scheme (CLSS) was to give people a discount on interest so they could get loans to buy or build a house. The plan was sent off to help the center pay local area, financially more vulnerable segments (EWS) and low-pay gatherings (LIG). The scheme is broken up into two sections: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural). These sections are named after the communities that the scheme serves.
PMAY-U was launched in 2016 with the goal of providing "Housing for All by 2022" by building 1.12 million homes for the country's urban poor over the next seven years (from 2015 to 2022).
Sent off in November 2016, PMAY-G was intended to help 'Lodging for All by 2022 by building 2.95 crore houses for the provincial poor of the nation over by 2022.
