Maharashtra has almost two lakh cooperative societies with over 50 million members. These cooperative societies, including cooperative housing societies, are governed by the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act of 1960.

However, I have got some latest news about MHADA flat allotment, and MHADA election;

The latest news are as follows: 

  • Housing Development Minister Jitendra Awhad declared on March 25, 2022, that the state will make 300 MHADA homes available in suburban Goregaon for MLAs from rural districts. He added legislators who do not own a home in Mumbai will be eligible for this scheme while speaking in the state Assembly

  • The state government has chosen not to assign a government official to conduct elections in order to make it easier for tiny cooperative housing societies to organise elections

  • Housing societies with less than 250 members will benefit from this relaxation, which will make things easier for them and minimise their financial burden. 

  • Societies can now choose a returning officer to monitor the election who is not a candidate and owes no dues
