The journey of torture I am sharing my experience with Design Cafe in the hope that others can avoid the same dissatisfaction and financial loss. By sharing the complete details of my experience, I aim to prevent others from enduring the same pain and frustration.

1) Designers and the problems: Design Cafe is lacking in one major area: its designers. They are inexperienced and arrogant, as you will see when the furniture is installed. Our initial discussions with the designer were positive, but once the furniture was delivered and installation began, numerous design errors were apparent. When we brought these issues to the designer's attention, she shifted the blame to us and refused to acknowledge the mistakes.

Some design problems:

  • Wall unit storage was installed just above the toilet seat, resulting in head injury if you are over 5 feet tall.

  • A bookshelf was designed that was 1.5 feet deep in a small 2 BHK, despite our request to reduce it. We later discovered that a smaller size was available but were not informed by the designer. We had to get a part of it during installation, otherwise it would hit the person working on the desk while getting up.

  • Dressing unit with an inbuilt bedside table was imbalanced and unstable.

  • Crockery unit was designed to be as deep as a baby swimming pool, which was not suitable for a small 2 BHK with limited space.

2) Measurement issues: Multiple teams took measurements, but mistakes were still made. For example,

  • Wall shelves were much larger than expected and would hit your head while moving around the room

  • The bathroom vanity unit was cut on site, requiring us to pay extra

  • They also suggested shifting power points unnecessarily, causing inconvenience. Some of those were not needed even as per the carpenters, and we didn’t shift them using common sense.

3) Space unconscious: We informed the design cafe of the smaller size of our 2BHK and asked for space-efficient furniture. However, it seems their priority was to maximize profits rather than optimizing the design for our limited space. We returned some items that were not suitable and were surprised to receive no refund. A reputable furniture company should not charge customers for furniture that doesn't fit their space after it has been returned.

4) Kids unfriendly: Beware of furniture with sharp edges (beds, wardrobes, some door handles) that are different from what was promised in the design phase with soft edges. If you're seeking rounded edges that are more kid-friendly, they're not available. Only purchase designs that can be seen and tested at the experience centres to avoid disappointment.

5) Communication Issues:

  • Adding extras items to invoices without informing: There were multiple invoices being generated due to recommendations from the designer. Initially we were happy the way things were getting added as per requirements. However, on the final invoices, some items were added without informing us, and they were not easily noticeable. This led to a situation where we realized they had been charged for items they never ordered. Refunds were eventually received, but only after a long process.

  • Liars: I ordered a dressing unit with a side table, but it arrived without the proper cut for the side table. The designer and measurement team promised that there would be no problems if the cut was made, but later I learned that this invalidated the warranty and made the unit unstable. Despite knowing this, the designers failed to inform us. The unit was eventually returned, but no compensation was received whatsoever.

  • Missing orders: Lastly, some additional items ordered were not delivered, and the company refused to issue refunds. Lesson that I learnt was not to pay the full amount until all the work is complete, as getting money back from the design cafe has proven to be a nightmare. And companies like the design cafe understand that, so they charge full money before even starting working on the furniture.

6) No Accountability: During the installation of the TV unit, the design cafe team damaged an internal wire while drilling, causing a loss of TV connection. Despite multiple attempts to contact them for resolution, no action was taken. I was ultimately forced to pay a professional electrician 2-3k to fix the issue. The designer at the cafe also recommended additional POP work outside of their services, which we agreed to considering her expertise in this area.

However, the vendor was unprofessional and the work was completed haphazardly in multiple visits, leaving little room for electrical work. It was later discovered that the designer received a substantial commission for the recommendation, which was her true intention. The design cafe acknowledged this type of behavior is common, but refused to take responsibility for any issues.

7) Payment trap: Design Cafe has four payment slabs (5%, 15%, 35% and 45%). However, customization options decrease as you make payments, and dimensions are fixed. Designers are not focused on your project's needs and will not explain the dimensions adequately. They will also not tolerate any delays from your side in making payments but have no problem with delays from theirs in every phase.

8) Delays: The entire process took over 3 months before delivery and 3 weeks for installation, which was far from "hassle-free." Furniture was delivered late at night without prior notice, and unloading finished around 1pm, causing inconvenience for our family.

Bottom line, never trust the design cafe. Their interest will not align with yours. All they care about is how much money they can get out of you, especially during later stages of the project once you start making payments. They will drain your resources in both money and time. Even if the furniture is useless to you and you give it back, there’s absolutely no refund.

Either go for a good rated local furniture manufacturer, who will work hard to match your expectations, and may go above and beyond, or a highly rated online brand who cares about their public image, and thus their customers. I understand that experience could be different for different individuals, as they would have interacted with different individuals at the design cafe. However, based on my painful experience with the design cafe pune, I highly suggest exploring other options as relying on Design Cafe may lead to a lifetime of

Hi. My experience with Design Cafe was quite good. They are pretty professional in their work. I had gone through several Design Cafe interior reviews, which were a mixed bag. I was a little doubtful at first but they did a fine job. The design implementations were as per our discussion. So, a thumbs up from my side for their work. You can consider them for your home interiors.

I got my kitchen designed through Design Cafe about 6 months ago in Bangalore and it wasn’t the best of experiences for me. The kitchen and utility area was built fine with good design. However, the wooden panel started to disintegrate and the hinges also rusted. I mean that is not the quality I expected. They haven’t been prompt with resolving the issue either. I would say you be careful while picking an interior designer.

Review of Design Cafe Be extremely cautious when making your initial payment to Design Cafe. Limit the project scope to essentials like kitchen and wardrobes. They have a hidden clause that reduces your discount if you later reduce the project scope, even if it's based on the designer’s advice. The sales team may push for a larger scope to trap you into higher costs.   Key Points to Consider:
  1. Choosing a Designer:
  • At signup, demand the best designer and visit their previous work sites. Talk to the clients there to gauge the designer's knowledge. Many of their designers lack practical experience and are more focused on sales.
  1. Site Visits and Meeting Minutes:
  • Ensure the designer visits your site regularly and sends detailed minutes of each meeting. They have been known to manipulate meeting notes to blame delays on customer indecision.
  1. Refund Policy and Management Issues:
  • If a designer underperforms, as in my case where the designer was fired, they won't refund your money. Despite escalating to top management, I only received a token offer far less than my losses.
  • The local management is often arrogant, unethical, and unprofessional.
  1. Product Quality:
  • Their standard products like wardrobes and kitchen setups are good. However, avoid their beds. Dressing tables and bathroom shelves are of decent quality.
  1. Customer Service and Culture:
  • Their culture is problematic with local teams being extremely arrogant. Postpayment, you are at their mercy, and they rarely address issues proactively.
  • They lack an exit clause, trapping you into accepting subpar designs and products.
  1. Installation and Deployment:
  • The installation teams are also arrogant and often do a shoddy job. You may need to chase them to fix issues like door alignment.
  1. Customer Success Team:
  • This team is ineffective and won’t provide contact information for higherups.
Overall Recommendation: Design Cafe has good products, but the staff’s lack of knowledge and their arrogant attitude are significant drawbacks. If you can manage these issues, you might proceed. Remember, each Design Cafe centre operates as a franchise, so discuss directly with the franchisee and create separate contracts for custom work. Should you consider Design Cafe? Maybe, if you’re prepared to handle the challenges mentioned. Always ensure you have all agreements in writing and be ready for a potentially frustrating experience.

Dear I can empathize with your pain as they gave the similar experience to me too. The Team is non-committal, lack of ownership and with zero value system. Their design team is inexperience and project team is worst than them. The owners are very smart and enjoying their team robbing customers They don't have the capability to handle big projects One should go them at their own cost & risk. My ratings to them is in -------------------- VE

I opted for Design Cafe after going through several online positive Design Cafe reviews. I had a great time engaging DesignCafe for my home interior work. The 10-year maintenance warranty that is included in the project contract is the best part about having a home completed by DC. They actually completed the task 8 days before the actual handover date.

Hi,

After going through several Designcafe reviews, I booked their service for my home interior work. I had a great experience at the Whitefield Experience Center of DesignCafe. They use high-quality products overall. Any issues were promptly resolved. The outcome in the end is fantastic and fit for each member of the family. I will strongly recommend their service.

I hired the company to renovate my parent's house in Hyderabad. The company is exorbitantly priced. The sales team is regular with calls and updates until they don’t receive the payment. Once they got the money, project managers and other representatives were inaccessible. I have shared the same details with my friends when asked for a Design cafe Hyderabad reviews. The designers from Hyderabad did not make a site visit, which was absurd. The team was unresponsive to my calls and emails.

Initially, the studio had made promises of 60 date delivery. The delivery of the company is poor. All the fittings and timelines were delayed. The end project took more than 60 days. The cost kept shooting up as well, even for minute changes. If you hire them, be prepared for high quotes and escalations. Moreover, the poor response to grievances start to feel like harassment after a while. I would suggest you read Design cafe review and details of other studios before choosing one.

Hey, I read another Design cafe review here and I am shocked, to say the least. My experience with design Cafe was 10/10. The designers ( junior and senior) both worked objectively with me and created a stunning yet practical house. I had sent them a request to add elements like a false ceiling and rounded arches in my house, to give an illusion of a bigger space than what it was. The team delivered beautifully. The fittings used are branded, and of premium quality. They added a mirror wall and transformed my house. I wouldn't call this a Design cafe interior reviews, it is just a big thank you to the team for remodeling my entire house within the promised timeline. They have used gorgeous colors and designer lighting in the bedroom and living room.

I have hired the Design Cafe to redo my basic apartment. It's only been a couple of weeks since I have been working with the team. So, it's difficult to provide a proper Design Cafe review. I rechecked Design Cafe customer reviews to see if the price breakdown given to me was standard for the studio or not. To date, I believe the initial quotation given by them was pricey. Though, I would like to highlight that their process of giving the quotation is transparent, all the extra charges were discussed and agreed upon by the designers and the client. I think the service of the design studio and communication with clients could be better, I don't see a representative from the studio taking accountability for the timeline given to me.

Hello, When I was looking to renovate my old 2 BHK house into a beautiful, modern one. I began searching for companies that could renovate my house at an affordable price. I read many Design cafe review online, be it on Google or social media. Initially, I was very excited about the process and confident in my choice.

Adding onto Design cafe interior reviews. My experience with DC ( Design Cafe) wasn't the best. I liked the designers and how they conducted and drew the preliminary designs and managed clients. Sadly, that is all that I liked. All the other departments of the design studio required running after. I got responses like "we can't do any customisations' ', The quality of material ( wood, ornamental fitting ) is not premium by any means. It seems as if they will break in a month or two. Overall, I am unhappy and would give the company, ⅖ in my Design cafe Bangalore reviews.
