What is the latest news about the wheeling charges?I recently learnt in an article about the hike in wheeling in electricity in Maharashtra. It is expected that there will be a hike in the power bills in Maharashtra. In fact, the hike is supposed to be up to 18% in tariff as per the petition filed before the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission or MERC.
The slim consumers have to bear 6-18% of the proposed hike as well. But for the high-end electricity users, the proposed hike might be only 2%. This will be deliberately done to prevent them from migrating to Tata Power.
The hike in power wheeling charges for all residential users can rise up to 55% and for fixed charges, there can be a rise of 38%. You can learn wheeling charges calculation from the above answers.
All we have to do is wait and see how much rise will be there in the upcoming years in this wheeling charge.
This is all I know as of now about the wheeling charges in electricity bill in Maharashtra.

For instance, if I wish to use the MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) transmission or distribution network to transfer power from Ahmedabad to Pune, I must pay MSEDCL the fee authorised by the MERC (Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission). Wheeling of power refers to this type of power transfer on the MSEDCL network, and in general, the wheeling charges electricity is the rent I must pay to the network's owner in order to utilise it.
I have gone through Tousif’s answer, and I completely agree with how he explained things regarding
how to calculate wheeling charges in electricity bills. Just to reiterate, I must say that
the calculation is done per MWH. You can get an idea of what wheeling fees are from this. The wheeling fees are calculated by multiplying the total power wheeled in P(MW) by the cost per MW of wheeling in rupees.
I would like to conclude here about the
wheeling charges meaning. I hope this helps:)

Wheeling is the movement of electric energy (mw of power) within a power grid to a power supply beyond the grid borders in electric power transmission. There are two forms of wheeling: 1) a wheel-through, in which the electrical power generation and load are both outside the transmission system's borders, and 2) a wheel-out, in which the production supply is inside the production system's boundaries but the force is outside. Let’s understand wheeling charges in electricity bill below.
The sequencing of energy transfers from one Balancing Authority to another is known as wheeling. Because the transmission of electric energy involves the use of a transmission network, transmission operators are frequently charged a fee. It means the process of transmitting electricity over power lines in a more basic sense.
What is wheeling charges in electricity bill? The term "wheeling charges" refers to the fees paid to transport electricity from a power plant to end customers. In basic terms, the overall leased cost of a transmission line is known as wheeling charges. It is calculated on a per-MWH basis. This gives you an idea about what is wheeling charges.
The total power wheeled in P(MW) multiplied by the wheeling costs in Rs/MW equals the wheeling fees.
P(MW) x Wheeling Charges(Rs/MW) = Wheeling Fees
Wheeling costs (0.2105 per MW) are collected in Tamilnadu on customers who use power from sources other than TNEB.
Example:
Let's look at the wheeling fees for 140MW according to the Tamilnadu SLDC.
Fees for wheeling = 140 x 0.2105 = 29.47/-
