I heard the term WPC board for the first time last year during our home remodelling. It was my father who told me the WPC board full form, which is Wood Plastic Composite. WPCs have a slip-resistant surface that prevents accidents and injuries. They also have a weather-resistant surface that protects from rainwater damage.

WPCs are also widely used in areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms, as they have a decorative surface that gives a style and character to the space. It also offers an acoustic surface which means they are great for reducing noise transmission. 

My father also explained to me some common specifications of WPCs 

• Their thickness ranges from 2 mm to 25 mm

• Their density is usually between 600 kg/m³ to 800 kg/m³ depending on their composition.

• They usually come in natural brown colour but it can vary depending on their pigments.

• Their texture can also vary depending on the manufacturing process.

What are the disadvantages of the WPC board?

1) In WPC boards, the drawbacks of wood and plastic are clear.

2) The initial investment is rather high if you compare it to other available materials used for that reason.

3) When you use it in furnishings, frames, and windows, wooden finishes provide an unnatural appearance.

4) High temperatures won't harm them in any way. When hot objects are placed over the WPC board, they appear to be melting if the temperature is above 80 – 90 degrees.
