Being a homeowner, I can say it has become difficult to find good tenants these days. Since we rarely live in town because of my husband’s business, it becomes more crucial for us to find a good tenant. My husband and I have made a list of what makes a good tenant.

Whether you’re a homeowner or a tenant, you can consider the following characteristics that qualify a good tenant.

1. Good Communicator: Communication is important. As a landlord, observe whether they are responsive to calls within a reasonable time. You must see if they are understanding and friendly to deal with. All of this together makes them an excellent communicator. 

2. Detailed Application: A detailed description of the tenant on the application will show they are not hiding anything and are open to sharing relevant information without feeling offended. 

3. Good Credit History: A clean credit history is also what makes a good rental tenant. Their track record of punctual rent payments shows their responsible nature. . You should ask for a rental history report or contact their former landlords.

4. Stable Income: It is important to know your tenant’s current employment details to just be on the safe side. A stable income will tell that you won’t face any issue during rental payments.

5. Honesty: This is one of the top qualities of being a trustworthy tenant. Being a homeowner, you observe how honest your potential tenant is regarding certain information or during conversations. 

6. Accommodating: This is also what make you a great tenant. Being accommodating means whether you agree to property inspections during the tenancy without much inconvenience.
