I had to relocate to a new home last month, but I had no idea what to pack and what should you not pack when moving. Hence, I researched online and found that there are a few home items that you are not allowed to take in your moving truck. Some of them include dangerous items, perishable products, and broken or unused items. Before you begin packing, scroll down to check the complete lists and be sure you handle these products safely.

What Not to Pack in Moving Truck?

I discovered online that some items are either useless or are easily replaceable, so they are not worth the time and effort to pack and move. The following are the things you can't or shouldn't put in your moving truck, regardless of whether you're looking for local, or long-distance relocation.

Beauty Products

  • Nail Polish

  • Nail Polish Remover

  • Aerosols (hair spray or deodorants)

Cleaning Supplies

  • Cleaning Solvents

  • Ammonia

  • Liquid Bleach

  • Aerosol Air Fresheners

  • Stain Removers

Garden Chemicals

  • Fertilizer

  • Poisons (such as weed killer)

  • Pesticides

  • Pool Chemicals, etc.

Garage Chemicals

  • Car Batteries

  • Motor Oil

  • Paint Thinner

  • Gasoline

  • Kerosene

Other Household Items

  • Fluorescent Light Bulbs

  • Lamp Oils

  • Fire Extinguishers

  • Batteries

  • Matches

  • Guns (including starter pistols)

  • Ammunition

  • Fireworks

  • Paints (both latex and oil-based)

Perishable Food

Fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and frozen goods should all be eaten or thrown out prior to moving day as they won't keep well throughout a relocation.

Apart from these, you must also avoid having plants, valuable items, important documents, old clothes, or outdated electronics in the moving truck.

To save time and effort when packing and unpacking on moving day, take the time to declutter and donate or sell these items. I hope you get an idea of what not to bring when moving.

What will movers not pack?

1) Flower and Plant

Plants cannot be transported by movers and packers since some regions do not permit them to do so. You must inquire with the moving firm to transfer plants. Is it advisable to relocate your green buddies personally in a single day. You shouldn’t leave those plants without water for a lengthy period of time.

2) Medicines

Consult your chemist to have your meds changed to the address of your new residence and to learn how and when to move them securely. Don't worry about giving your pet medications as well. Have those papers and medicines relocated to your new residence by speaking with your doctor.

3) Jewellery and Valuables

Cash, securities, priceless documents, and jewellery. Hold your valuables close at hand. You shouldn't neglect to have a separate storage locker close to your new house. And you must move the belongings there before your transfer if they're safely stored in a secure location at the bank.

4) Flammable Materials

Items including paint, petrol, and household chemicals. Find out how to collect and recycle of these goods by contacting the neighbourhood hazardous waste group in your area. You can get advice from your neighbourhood fire station.

5) Explosive Material

This includes fireworks, explosive materials, guns, and dangerous materials. I sincerely hope you don't, but if you do, contact your neighbourhood police force. You shouldn’t leave them open under any circumstances.

This is all from my end about what not to pack when moving.
