A few months ago, I got my house renovated. After the renovation was complete, a friend of mine suggested I should conduct a thorough post-renovation check. It is to figure out if everything is in place as I wanted it to be, so that I could fix anything that needed. But I didn’t know which important aspects I should check, so I researched for a post renovation checklist. Though it can be very subjective, based on your house renovation, here is the checklist I found and followed.

What to Check Post Renovation?

  • I started by looking over all the installed finishes and fittings. I looked for dents and scratches, especially on surfaces like cabinets and countertops. Finding everything in good condition was important because these little things had a big impact on the final look.

  • After that, I focused on the plumbing. I looked for leaks in each tap and shower head and ensured that the water pressure was consistent. This was a critical step, since any leakage that went undetected could eventually lead to more catastrophic problems.

  • I took care to inspect the electrical systems as well. I turned on all the outlets and lights to make sure everything was working properly. Even if it's simple to ignore such specific things, our safety depends on them, so I inspected them.

  • I then cleared up all the dust and clutter in my home. This included cleaning the windows, wiping down surfaces, and vacuuming carpets. I used a good-grade vacuum cleaner as I heard it works effectively for removing small dust particles left behind after construction.

  • At last, I sat down to understand the general atmosphere of my recently renovated area. The ultimate goal was to make sure that everything felt perfect as I wanted it, both aesthetically and functionally.

I understood that to truly enjoy your new home, a thorough post-renovation check is necessary for your own peace of mind and safety. You should really take the time to examine fixtures, test plumbing and electrical systems and clean thoroughly. I hope you got this post renovation checklist helpful.
