Home inspection is done before purchasing a house. It is mostly done for buying a house where someone else used to live, or in simple words, it is a resale house. My friend had a 3 BHK house in Bangalore which he had put up for sale since he was leaving for Canada for work. Seeing the house I was quite interested in buying it but my sister suggested I get a home inspection done before I finalise the buying process. But most of us do not know what to do after house inspection. So, I am going to tell you exactly what is done or what fixes are mandatory after a home inspection. Read on.

A home inspection is important as it tells you what repairs are required in the house before you move in or finalise the purchase. It can save you from buying a property that is not structurally strong and requires very expensive repairs. But what to do after a home inspection? After home inspection, you will receive a report of the house through which it can be determined whether you want to invest in the repairs of the house, purchase the house, or cancel the purchase contract.

After home inspection you need to do the following;

1. Read your home inspection report: After you get the home inspection report, go through it thoroughly and decide which repairs are critical and which are not.

2. Discuss your home inspection report with your agent: The real estate agent will help you understand the required repairs better. They will guide you if there are major safety concerns and write a repair addendum to the sellers to fix the problems in the house.

3. Prepare a repair addendum & Sellers' response, negotiations, and counteroffers: After the agent writes a repair addendum, the sellers review it and most of the time they agree to make the required repairs. But you must know negotiation after home inspection, for the repairs, from the seller because not all repairs will be fixed by them.

4. Order Your home appraisal: After you are satisfied with the home inspection report, you must order your home appraisal. Through home appraisal, the lender will determine the current market value of the house and the down payment that will be needed at closing.

5.  Prepare for closing: Home inspection after closing includes a few remaining things like homeowners insurance, title search, and final credit check
