Before I tell you when is Govardhan puja timing and date, let me tell you about this festival in brief.

It is celebrated one day after Deepawali, which is the 4th day of the 5-day long Hindu festival. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the 1st lunar day (Ekam) of the Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month. Sometimes, there can be a gap of one day between Deepawali celebrations and Govardhan Puja.

Govardhan Puja is a popular Hindu festival that is dedicated to Lord Krishna. In some places, it is known as 'Gujarati New Year', 'Padwa', 'Annakut Puja', or 'Bali Pratipada'. It is celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm in some states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab.

Especially in Haryana, there is a ritual of making cow dung hillocks, which represents the hill of Govardhan. Worshippers then decorate these hillocks with flowers, perform puja and offer fruits, incense sticks, water, etc.
