The Indian Financial System Code, or IFSC, is a special alphanumeric identifier given to every bank branch that participates in India's NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) system. In a financial transaction, it is used to specify the specific bank and branch. I was recently doing the transaction using my SBI account. Hence, I googled to know where is IFSC code in cheque book of SBI. I found that typically, the IFSC code is located at the top of a physical cheque book.
Where to find IFSC code in cheque book?
You may simply look for your SBI Bank's IFSC code on the first page of your chequebook.
The IFSC code is mentioned on the upper left corner of the cheque, underneath the branch name and address.
Let’s see the format of SBI IFSC code presented on the chequebook. The three sections of any 11-digit SBI IFSC code are as follows:
The four alphabets that make up the first section are SBIN, which stands for State Bank of India.
The number "0" makes up the second section (fifth character).
The six-digit SBI individual branch code is under the third section.
