Last year, I designed my kitchen in a Vastu compliant way. Previously, I had no idea about where kitchen should be as per Vastu. However, after discussing with our family Vastu expert I got to know about the specific directions of the kitchen.

Our Vastu expert said that it is considered that the southeast corner of the house is ideal for the kitchen. He also highlighted the placement of several features in the kitchen;

• Stove:

The stove is one of the most important appliances in the kitchen. It symbolises the element of fire, and the southeast corner of the room is the ideal location for it. 

• Washbasin:

Apart from the stove, he also said that since the northeast indicates the water, the washbasin should always be positioned in that direction. Additionally, keep in mind that the stove and washbasin should never be placed next to one another because they are opposing components that repel one another.

• Exhaust fans:

He asked me to install the exhaust fan in the kitchen's southern direction.

• Storage cabinets:

The kitchen's southern and western walls should have storage cabinets installed, according to the kitchen Vastu principle. 

After understanding where should the kitchen be as per Vastu, I asked him about the directions to avoid. 

He said the barriers to the north and east are two directions I should stay away from while planning for the kitchen placement.
