Hey,

I find the process of paying taxes very boring. Anyway, I know where to enter house rent in ITR. To begin the ITR filing process, if you earn a rental income, you will have to enter personal details, such as name, PAN number, date of birth, and gender.

After that, you’ll have to tap on ‘Income Sources’ and enter your income details. For that, you’ll have to select Salary/Other Income/Capital Gain/House Property/Business and Profession. After choosing your source of income, you may either fill in the employer’s details along with your taxable salary manually or upload Form 16.

Next, locate the taxable income in your Form 16 and enter the salary TDS in the relevant section. After that, enter other incomes like those from bank accounts, fixed deposits, gifts, etc. in the ‘Other Income’ tab.

Exempt Rent and Incomes from Owned Property

You will have to declare exempt incomes as well. Incomes from interest on PPF, agricultural income, mutual funds, ULIPs, etc. needs to be included. If you earn rent from an owned property, you will have to add details of the rental house. You will have to mention the overall rent received over the year, and if the house has any housing loans, then mention the interest amount paid towards the same along with the property’s address. You will also have to mention the Details of co-owners.

After that, you will just have to enter tax deduction details.

I hope now you know about filing ITR house rent.
