The colour of dustbin as per Vastu should be brown or any light colour. This is what I learned when a Vastu expert visited our house. He also advised us not to keep a red or yellow coloured dustbin in the house. And for direction, we learned that the southwest, the west, or the northwest are considered the best directions to keep dustbins.

Where Should Dustbin be Kept in Which Direction?

The ideal directions to keep a dustbin are:

• West

• Southwest and 

• Northwest 

And the directions you must avoid to keep a dustbin are:

• Northeast: keeping the dustbin in this direction will affect your mental health and structural thought process. You will remain tense and have uncertainty in your life.

• East: you will feel lonely all the time if you place the dustbin in this direction. You will also lose the desire to meet new people and as a result, might lose new opportunities

• Southeast: placing the dustbin in this direction will affect your wealth accumulation. 

• East-west and North: keeping a dustbin in these directions is also not considered good so you better avoid it.

So this a guidance on where should we keep dustbin as per Vastu and where not. 

Also, avoid keeping the dustbin near the main entry to the house. If you have no other place to keep it, place it in a way so that it doesn’t show much.

Without a dustbin, a house can never be clutter-free or free of waste. When my Vastu consultant visited my house, he stated some dustbin direction as per Vastu. He also suggested that the dustbin should not be kept in the northeast, east, and south-east direction. This can hinder the positivity of the house.

It's better not to keep trash cans in the bedroom entrance as it signifies bad luck.

My Vastu consultant said that as per dustbin Vastu guidelines, dustbins should be kept in a corner of the kitchen. And it should be well organised. 

While choosing the colours you should avoid buying yellow or red coloured dustbins because it invites negative energy. 

All the garbage in the trash can should be disposed of every morning. 

Last but least, a dustbin should not be placed underneath the stairs.
