I purchased a 2 BHK flat recently and one of the questions that popped in my mind was when can a builder start charging maintenance for an apartment. I asked my builder this and he solved this query for me. He pointed out that builders can ask for 12 month, 24 month maintenance charges in advance before selling his flat. Then everything related to maintenance charges is related to RWA. When I purchased a flat I had to deposit a 12 month maintenance charge fee in advance. But the maintenance charges for unsold flats must be borne by the builders. I hope I was able to solve your question: can builder charge maintenance?
