Hello, I am a Bangalore native and have been affected by the ongoing water shortage here. So, I can share which areas in Bangalore have water problems at the moment. BWSSB has identified 58 areas in the city as the affected areas, including 257 other points as water-stressed.

Which are the Water Scarcity Areas in Bangalore?

The 58 areas I was talking about are largely concentrated in the Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli along with RR Nagar, Dasarahalli and Yelahanka zones of the city. These are the locations where the condition is quite serious.

The affected regions are,

Bengaluru South Zone  Bengaluru North  Bengaluru East Zone Bengaluru West Zone

Bommanahalli

DJ Halli

KR Puram

Rajajinagar 6th Block

HSR layout

Vaialikaval

Ramamurthy Nagar

Peenya

Chickpete

At the Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir, there is still a presence of 16 tmcft of water. The issue lies only on the outskirts, where the layouts and apartment buildings depend on borewells. The severe shortage has occurred because of the depletion in the groundwater level.

However, the central parts of the city are facing no shortage of water at the moment. The engineers at BWSSB are currently maintaining a supply of 1,450 million litres per day from the TK Halli pumping station in the Mandya district.

This is all I know about the areas in Bangalore with no water problem. I hope we get over this water crisis soon.

Which is good locality to buy a flat in Bangalore?

Bangalore faces water problems due to rapid urbanisation, inadequate infrastructure, depleting groundwater, and irregular rainfall patterns. Encroachment of lakes and water bodies, improper waste disposal, and pollution contribute to water contamination. Inefficient water management, population growth, and climate change further strain the supply-demand balance. There are a few Bangalore areas with no water problem like Koramangala, Indiranagar, and more. But many areas do experience water problems. Let me share water problem areas in Bangalore as well.

Which areas in Bangalore experience water problems?

I expected a lot from Bangalore. I had already heard of the traffic problems, but I had yet to learn that I would experience water problems here as well. In my rented house, we were strictly told that between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., we wouldn’t be receiving any water. Some of the areas that face water problems (drinking water problems) are:

  • Muneshwara Nagar

  • DJ Halli

  • KG Halli

  • Nagawara

  • Banaswadi

  • Tannery Road

  • Kushalnagar

  • Jeevanbhima Nagar, Yelahanka

  • BHEL

  • Bagaluru

  • Kalyan Nagar

  • Cox Town

  • KR Puram

  • Hoodi

  • Bellandur and

  • Varthur

But yes, there are areas in Bangalore with less water problem as well. Here is the list:

  • Koramangala

  • Indiranagar

  • Jayanagar

  • Basavanagudi

  • Malleshwaram

So these are some areas without water problem in Bangalore I am aware of. Things are, however, changing, so I hope the issue of water problems will not be there in the upcoming years in this city.
