Selecting which kitchen countertop is best became essential when I was remodeling my Mumbai apartment. I wanted something easy to maintain, stylish, and long-lasting.

Which is Better for Kitchen Countertops?

After a lot of research and personal experimentation, I found five excellent options:

  • Granite Countertop: A black granite countertop enhances any colour palette used in a modular kitchen. With its easily cleaned, stain- and scratch-proof surface that holds its sheen for years, it's ideal for a busy kitchen. You can even chop directly on it without worry.

  • Marble Countertop: Marble has a sophisticated appearance in a range of hues and textures. Though porous and susceptible to absorbing liquid stains, its durability and ease of maintenance make it less suitable for intense cooking.

  • Quartz Countertop: Quartz is an affordable alternative to granite, available in multiple colors. It is just as durable as granite, however, you must exercise caution when using hot utensils to prevent burn marks. It does not absorb liquids since it is non-porous.

  • Wooden Countertop: Wooden countertops add old-world charm and are eco-friendly with natural antibacterial properties. They require regular maintenance to stay dry, especially in humid conditions but are durable and aesthetically pleasing.

  • Natural Stone Countertop: Sandstone and limestone are stain-resistant, non-porous, and affordable. They are easy to maintain but can develop heat scratches over time, which can be buffed out.

I hope this helps you understand which stone is best for kitchen countertops. In the end, I chose the black granite countertop for my kitchen. Its durability, low maintenance, and timeless appeal made it the perfect choice for my busy cooking space.

I wanted to use the best material for kitchen countertops in India for our new house so hired professionals to come to a discussion. They provided me with several options, like opting for granite, marble, metal, glass or other types of countertops. After much discussion, I finally opted for the granite countertops.

Which Countertop is Best for Indian Kitchen?

My personal opinion on which kitchen countertop is best is granite. The professional also suggested I go with a granite or quartz kitchen countertop. Both of these are great options for countertops. They have their own set of advantages. I, however, like granite more, as it is often considered the best material for kitchen countertops in India due to its durability, heat resistance, and wide range of colours and patterns. Here is a list of advantages of having granite countertops:

  • Long-lasting countertop:

Granite is a natural stone known for its exceptional durability, making it resistant to scratches, chips, and cracks, ensuring long-lasting performance in the kitchen.

  • Heat Resistance:

Granite countertops can withstand high temperatures, making them suitable for placing hot pots and pans directly onto the surface without causing damage.

  • Variety:

Granite offers a diverse selection of colours, patterns, and variations, allowing homeowners to find a countertop that complements their kitchen's style and aesthetic preferences.

  • Easy Maintenance:

With proper sealing and regular cleaning, granite countertops are relatively easy to maintain and keep looking new, requiring minimal effort to preserve their beauty.

So this is what I can say to answer your query: which countertop is best for kitchen. But if you want, you can also choose from other varieties of kitchen countertops made of:

  • Quartz

  • MarbleStainless Steel

  • Resin

  • Porcelain tile

  • Wood

  • Solid surface

So decide which is better for kitchen countertops as per your choice and requirements.
