Which direction should God face in home? According to Vastu experts, god should be placed in either east or north-east direction in the house. The idols or deities must be kept at a certain height from the ground. The setting should be such that the face of God must be towards west and the face of worshipper should be towards east. Here are a few tips for you to know where to place god in home according to vastu in home or office:
  1. Do not keep idols of God or pictures of God on the floor.
  2. It is advisable to not set up your mandir in a basement
  3. The God idols should not be chipped, replace it immediately in such case
  4. Temple or mandir should not have a sharing wall with a bathroom and it should not be placed under the staircase area.
I hope you know now which direction should god face in home.
I have always believed that the placement of idols, or pictures of gods or goddesses, in a pooja room affects the flow of energy in the area. Since the god direction as per Vastu has a direct impact on people's spiritual health and the general peace in the home, it is suggested that God should be kept in the east or north-east direction.

God Should be Kept in Which Direction?

Although the east or northeast is the recommended orientation for idols or pictures of gods in pooja rooms according to Vastu Shastra principles, this alignment is thought to help bring blessings and positive energy into the home.
  • East
By positioning the deity with their back to the east, worshippers can seek benefits that correspond with the rising sun, which represents wisdom, enlightenment, and fresh starts. According to this theory, when people pray and meditate, the flow of positive energy facilitates spiritual connection and upliftment.
  • North-East
Perfect for Lord Shiva, the lord of destruction and transformation, standing for purity and healing forces.
  • Southeast
Ideal for gods representing wealth and prosperity such as Lord Kubera or Goddess Lakshmi.
  • North
Placing an idol or representation of Lord Ganesha facing northeast or north is considered beneficial according to Vastu principles. It is thought that facing this direction will bring success, prosperity, and wisdom into the home. I am sure now you understand which direction is best for placing god. According to various religions and cultural traditions, there are numerous directions that one should follow while placing God's idols. There is no one set course while deciding, God should face which direction. As it greatly varies depending on personal customs and beliefs. In the end, the direction one faces when making a connection with the divine depends on personal or religious inclination, as determined by the respective faiths and conventions.

Where should God be placed at home?

When I was placing God at my home, I consulted my astrologer and enquired where should God face in home. He informed me about the following points;

  • The primary God should be placed in the northeast corner of the space.

  • The god should face east since the rising sun represents fresh starts and the potential for spiritual development.

  • It is proper for Lord Vishnu's idol to face the West.

  • Lord Shiva's idol should be placed in the north direction

  • The idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Durga, and Lord Kartikeya should face east.

  • Bhairav idols and the idol of Lord Hanuman should face south.

  • Shivling needs to be placed at the house's northernmost corner.

I hope this helps:)

Nowadays Vastu compliance is given utmost importance in the real estate domain. My sister did a small course in home interior design. Last year, I bought a Vastu-compliant home from a reputed builder in Bangalore. While designing the house, I discussed the ideal mandir direction in a home with my sister. I asked her whether “Can god face south direction?” To this, she informed me to avoid facing my pooja room towards the south since it is inauspicious to do so.

Which God can face south direction?

My sister told me that Dakshinamurthy, a form of Lord Shiva, can be placed facing the south direction. Also, one can keep the picture of their ancestors in the south or southwestern part of their home.

She also informed me about,

What is the best God direction in home?

The primary God should be in the room's northeast corner, also known as the Ishaan corner.

What should be the God face direction as per Vastu?

I asked her about the face of god in which direction. To this, she responded that according to the Vastu of the pooja room, the faces of the gods should be in the west so that you face east while worshipping.

Also, while learning about the idol facing direction, she highlighted that the face of the idols should not be covered with garlands and flowers.

As per the correct mandir orientation at home, nothing should be positioned above the god's idol.

After getting a clear idea about whether “Can God face south direction?” and “What should be the God face direction as per Vastu?” I was able to position my Pooja ghar accordingly. I believe facing pooja ghar in an auspicious direction for praying and worshipping fulfils wishes.

In which direction god should be placed?

  • Understanding god facing direction Hindu is really important to ensure that there is positive aura all around the house. God's idols should be placed at least six inches above the ground and a few inches from the wall.

  • It is imperative that the idols not face the door or each other. My mother used to tell me that doing so can increase the flow of negative energy in the house. Additionally, God’s paintings or idols should not be damaged or broken at any place because this could be considered unlucky.

  • Paintings or photographs or portraits of the deceased members of the house, should not be displayed in the pooja room.

  • I should also tell you that using copper vessels for all religious rituals in the temple is considered to be profoundly auspicious.

  • According to Pooja Room Vastu, the Agni Kund, lamp, and other lighting objects should be placed in the southeast direction. And the idols and paintings of Gods should never be facing the south direction because god facing south direction is considered to be very inauspicious.

Other Pooja Room Vastu Tips To Follow:

  • Pooja's room should always be in the North-East corner of the house.

  • If that is not possible, and you are wondering can god face east direction, then let me tell you that the East and West are the second-best directions.

  • Always install the pooja room on the ground floor.

  • The pooja room should always be in the centre of the plot in large plots, hospitals, schools, offices, or factories.

  • The puja room should have images and idols of God and Goddess to the east or west direction only.

  • The God idols should always be placed with plenty of space between them.

  • Broken, damaged, or very old idols should not be worshipped.

  • When worshipping make sure you always face the east direction.

So, this is the answer to your question “which direction should god face in pooja room?”

Indians, especially Hindus are mostly orthodox and religious and want everything arranged as per the norms set by ancestors or abide by the Vastu Shastras. I am also well aware of these things and we can compromise everything but not anything related to God. Pujas or decorations must be perfect as well or Gods and Goddesses will not be pleased with us. The most confusing thing is, God idols should face which direction? Some say east, some say west. So let me give you a detailed explanation about this.
