I have stayed in both Pune and Bangalore because of my workplace. So, I can say that  the answer to the query, “Which is better Pune or Bangalore?” is difficult because these are two hi-tech cities and probably the best places to live in India, and they have their own advantages and disadvantages.

During my stay in both these cities, I have collated a few points of comparison. Let me share the comparison with you guys so that you can make a sound judgement.

Bangalore or Pune which is better?

Parameters Bangalore Pune

Cost of living

Bangalore is typically more expensive than Pune

The cost of living is lower in Pune including lodging, food, transportation, and even leisure activities.

Rent according to NoBroker rentometer

The cost of renting a property in Bengaluru varies from Rs 7,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month, depending on the location and amenities.

The average rent is Rs. 15000 - Rs. 25000, depending on the location, and amenities.

The average rent of a 2 BHK unfurnished apartment in Whitefield, Bangalore is Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 33,000.

The average rent of a 2 BHK, unfurnished flat in Pune is Rs.16,000 to Rs. 21,000.

Salary

A good salary range in Bangalore is between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month.

Rs 40,000 is the monthly average salary in Pune. Anything above this can be classified as a good salary.

Job Opportunities

Bangalore serves as a focal point for IT jobs in India as it is home to many of the country's biggest IT firms, including Infosys, Wipro, and IBM.

Pune may have a lesser IT sector, but it is still a major participant in the IT scene due to the presence of firms like Persistent Systems and KPIT Cummins.

Bangalore might be a better choice if you are primarily looking for employment in the IT industry.

Pune also has a strong job market if you have an interest in the automotive sector.

Transportation

Although Bengaluru's present Metro system, known as the Namma Metro, only has a few working segments.

Pune's Metro system gained significant building approval. It will take additional five years to finish the two systems.

Lifestyle

Compared to Pune, Bengaluru is noisier and more expensive than Pune.

The cultural capital of India, Pune, is a more quiet and relaxed city.

Recreational Activities and Nightlife

With more bars, nightclubs, and shopping malls than in Pune, Bengaluru is known for its pub culture.

Pune's nightlife is a lot more laid back.

Weather

Due to its location at a higher elevation, Bangalore enjoys a more pleasant climate than Pune, which is characterised by mild temperatures all year long.

Pune's summertime temperatures can reach 40 degrees, which can be rather warm.

Food

Bangalore is famous for its South Indian delicacies, such as dosas, idlis, and vadas,

while Pune offers a mix of North Indian and Marathi cuisine

For me, both are excellent cities to live in. It is just that Bangalore is slightly more expensive in comparison to Pune. I hope after going through these points, one can make a sound judgement about which is better Pune or Bangalore.

Only a person who has lived in both Pune and Bangalore can say which is better Pune or Bangalore. For a decade, I have lived in different cities, so I can share a list of aspects about both of them. But the decision to choose the better city will depend on you as per your needs only. So let me share all the aspects in detail here-

Between Bangalore or Pune which is better?

Both Bangalore and Pune have positive and negative aspects like-

Aspect  Pune  Bangalore

Congestion

Pune experiences traffic, but it has well-planned highways and roads, so the traffic gets cleared easily within a short time.

Bangalore experiences congestion almost every day mainly because its roads plans are not good and due to the lack of highway

Work

Pune has fewer IT hubs hence fewer job availabilities compared to Bangalore

Bangalore has more IT hubs than Pune so if you are wondering where you will get job opportunities, move to Bangalore

Weather

Pune has a moderate climate throughout the year. But yet, summers can be quite hot and dry here. The monsoon here lasts only a few weeks.

Bangalore has a pleasant climate throughout the year. It is neither too hot nor too cold here, so as per the weather, Bangalore is better than Pune.

As for living, I believe Pune is better than Bangalore in respect of cost at least so if you want to save more, move to Pune. But if you want to live life to the fullest and enjoy it, move to Bangalore. I hope these aspects will help you decide which is better Pune or Bangalore.
