Which Type of Dining Table is Best?

The best kind of dining table will depend on several factors, such as the size and style of the dining room, type of usage, and your personal preferences. I can say this because last year we got our living and dining hall remodelled and our interior designer helped us choose the right dining table. So, I have shared below some tips which will help you decide which type of dining table is best.

How to Select the Right Dining Table?

You can easily select the right dining table based on some factors which I have mentioned below.

• Size: The most important point is how much space you have in your room. In our case, the distance between the edge of the dining table set and the wall is around three feet. So, this allows enough space for us to move our chair and enough clearance while walking around the table.

• Style: This may include a traditional style or a modern and Scandinavian style. Our designer suggested we go with heavy farmhouse style dining tables with exposed wooden surfaces since we had a country style room. However, if you have a modern or contemporary setting, you can go for straight edged and clean-lined forms made from wood, glass or metal.

• Usage: If you use your dining table consistently, go with sturdy and large size tables that are made of durable materials. However, if you use your table less frequently, you can go for more decorative finishes. We are a family of three people and we don’t use our dining table that often, so our designer recommended us to go with a

  patterned veneer finished table top. 

• Shape: If you have a small space, a 36-44 inch square and four seater dining table might be ideal. Moreover, a triangular or a rectangular table would accommodate around 6-8 people. Since we are a small family, we planned to pick a round table with 36-48 inches.
