The Indian government announced a ten percent (10%) reservation quota for candidates belonging to the EWS (Economically Weaker Section). I had applied for EWS certification at the time of my college admission. It not only helped me get a seat in a reputed college but also helped me get a job in a well-known company. There are economic weaker section reservation quota benefits in the educational and government sectors such as Indian Administrative Services, Staff Selection Commission, Railways, IITs, and IIMs, etc. The Karnataka Government recently decided to adopt a 10% reservation quota in education and employment for the EWS category. I will explain who can apply for EWS certificate.

Criteria to apply for EWS certificate:

1) Indian residents who have not been covered under any SC, ST, or OBC quota category are eligible to apply for an EWS certificate.

2) The person who has a gross income of less than 8 lakh per year, including the family's earnings from all sources such as agricultural, wage, professional, company, and so on.

3) The applicant should have less than 5 Acres of Agricultural Land in their or their family's name.

4) The size of the residential plot should be less than 100 square yards.

5) The size of a residential flat should be less than 1000 square feet.

How to get EWS certificate?

1) You need to obtain an application form from your local tahsildar office, which is located in your region.

2) You will need to provide your personal, family, and contact information, as well as your residence, income, and passport-size pictures.

3) Attach all the essential documents to the application form according to the guidelines.

4) Applicants must submit all necessary documents to the appropriate authority office along with the application form.

5) If you meet all of the requirements, the application will be reviewed first, and only then approved by the authorised person.

6) You will receive the certificate within 15 days after it has been thoroughly inspected.
