Hi,

TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is a part of income tax. Any person who needs to deduct TDS and has deducted TDS is required to issue a TDS certificate. This certificate allows the assessee to claim the applicable tax credit as well as the applicable refunds. Let me tell you who issues a TDS certificate in detail now:

Who Issue TDS Certificate

As per Section 203 of the Income Tax Act, every individual deducting TDS is required to issue a TDS certificate to the payee that ensures the tax has been deducted along with some other particular.

For example, banks that deduct tax at the time of payment of pension need to issue TDS certificates (Form 16A). Similarly, employers issue Form 16 to employees who get salary income including pension.

The deductor is required to issue this certificate in his own stationery. However, there isn’t any obligation to issue this certificate if the tax at source isn’t deductible/deducted by claims of deductions/exemptions.

This is all on who issues the TDS certificate.
