Hello. I recently saw that my ceiling fan stopped working after power outage. So, I tried a couple of things to see what the issue was. I first turned the switch on and off, then I changed the batteries of the fan remote. But that didn’t work either. So, I called an electrician, and he gave me a few reasons behind the issue while fixing the fan. Let me tell you about those below.

Reasons Behind Ceiling Fan Not Working after Power Outage

Here are some reasons and their probable solutions regarding the failure of ceiling fans after a power cut:

  1. Transformers: The transformer is commonly used to function the electronics for the remote control. Although they are made in a way to safeguard against power surges, they can get damaged if there is a design issue. So, if you see a problem with the transformer, call an electrician.

  2. Remote Control: If your fan operates using a ceiling fan, check the batteries if they are working and also that the connection is intact. Try replacing the batteries and press the reset button on the remote.

  3. Capacitor: There is a possibility that the capacitor has blown. On taking off the cover, you’ll be able to make out by looking at the wiring. You can check if the cover has blown or not. Don’t touch anything on the capacitor as they have extremely high voltages and need to be discharged before replacement. Call an electrician for this.

So, this is all I know. I hope you now understand the reasons behind ceiling fan doesn t work after power outage.
