Though my fan has been wobbling for the past few months, I didn’t think much about it. But a few days back, after turning on the fan, I noticed that it was wobbling a lot more than usual. I called an electrician to get the issue fixed. After the electrician came, I asked him why does my ceiling fan shake so much? He said that there are two reasons, the first being the fan not securely attached and the other being unbalanced blades.
Why Does My Ceiling Fan Shake?
The electrician used a stepladder to go up, and he shook the fan gently, and it moved easily. After inspecting the fan, he said that the fan was not securely attached to the ceiling and had loose screws. Here’s what he did to solve the problem with the fan.
First of all, he disconnected the power to the fan.
Next, he asked me to hold the fan while he removed the screws from the canopy. But he didn’t remove the blade brackets or blade holder.
After that, he tightened the screws that hold the ceiling plate on top of the fan to the junction box.
Finally, he screwed back the canopy and turned the power on.
And that’s it. This is how the shaking problem with my fan was solved. I hope this helps.
