Yesterday, my niece was asking my father why is a ventilator provided in a room. He told me multiple reasons to have windows and ventilation in the room. I overheard their conversation and this is what I gathered. I am sharing the list of reasons with you here so scroll down to know the objective to have ventilation.

Why ventilation is necessary?

  • As Anamika mentioned, a ventilator is provided in a room to control airflow and maintain a comfortable atmosphere.

  • It aids in preventing the buildup of dangerous gases, like carbon dioxide, which can cause serious health issues.

  • It also helps to remove the smell from the air.

  • It lowers humidity levels.

  • It reduces the effect of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOC can harm your health easily. It comes from various cosmetics products, air fresheners, and so on.

Why do we need ventilation in buildings?

The main reason why are ventilators provided in houses is to stop the spread of infectious diseases. In buildings like hospitals and other healthcare centers, airborne pathogens like viruses and bacteria can easily spread from one person to another. People are less likely to deal with these pathogens if the house has a ventilator. The ventilation circulates the air and lowers the occurrence of respiratory issues.

Why rooms are provided with ventilators near the roof?

Now, one question that must come to your mind is why are ventilators constructed above the windows. This is because, if the air within the room becomes hot, the hot air rises up and passes through the ventilators, leaving the cold air in the room.

To maintain room temperature normal and keep the air in the room fresh, this is why ventilators are provided near the roof. Hope you understand why are ventilators provided in our houses.

I did not like the idea of ventilators and I really don’t know why. I have AC installed in my room and we need to cover the ventilators once we switch it on or else the cold air will pass through it and the room will fail to get cold. I did not know why is a ventilator provided in a room and thus asked my father to cover it permanently but he said no. Ventilators are very important for the rooms and he ensured that each of the rooms have one. Let me tell you why it is important here.

Why is ventilation provided in a room?

In simple terms let me tell you the importance of ventilators. When we breathe, the air in the room becomes warm and impure and being less dense, it rises up. To take its place, the cold fresh air comes in the room through the windows and cools the atmosphere and the warm wind moves out through the ventilators. The contaminated indoor air gets eradicated by the cool and fresh air.

Of course while the AC is on, you need to cover the ventilators but after switching it off, you must ensure that there is space for the outside fresh air to move into the room and make the environment hygienic. I hope this information is enough to help you know why is ventilation necessary for a good house.

What are the benefits of good ventilation?

Some of the important aspects of good ventilation are:

  • Makes the environment germ free and hygenic

  • Helps in air regulation

  • Reduces temperature

  • Fresh air is always good for health

  • Helps to get rid of moisture, odor, smoke or other air pollutants

I hope I have been able to make you understand why is a ventilator provided in a room.
