I believe your room gets hot even in the winter because of the lack of ventilation. I lived in a PG and could not figure out why is my room so hot in winter. All my friends used to say the same thing. My room was small, and there were several goods stuffed in it, like a bed, a cupboard, a table, and more. The lack of windows and doors obstructed the free flow of air to a great extent, and thus my room never used to get cold. I guess that is why your room always feels hot and stuffy. The only remedy in such a case will be to let the air flow freely throughout the room or decrease the amount of stuff you have.

I live in Darjeeling. We do not need an AC since the climate is always cold here. The problem is, why is my room so hot and stuffy? Whether it is summer or winter, I always feel suffocated. Can anyone please suggest any remedies?

Summers in India are really disturbing nowadays. The weather is getting extreme in several places. 37 degrees feels like 45 degrees. On top of that, I wondered- "Why is my room so hot even with AC. My friends came over and said the same thing a few years ago. I started finding solutions for it. I googled why is my room so hot and humid and found plenty of reasons for it. It was not the AC’s fault but my own. There can be AC issues as well, like dirty air filters, poor insulation, low AC capacity, and more, but my case was different.

Why room is hot?

Even with an AC, my room was hot, and the reason was the bookshelf just in front of our AC. It was causing airflow obstruction for it and thus the room was not getting cold easily. Some other reasons can be-

  • The thermostat setting might not be set correctly

  • The AC unit might not be sufficient to cool the room

  • Inadequate insulation

  • Clogged or dirty air filters can reduce the efficiency of your AC system as well

  • Any heat-emitting devices in your room, such as electronics, lamps, or appliances, that may be generating additional heat making the room hot

At least I found the solution to why does my room get hot at night even with the AC on and I guess you too will be able to figure out the reason. But if you fail to figure it out, ask an expert to guide you.
