Hey! A while ago, I painted a room in my house, but after a few weeks, I noticed that the paint had started cracking, and it was super frustrating. I dug into why paint cracking on wall after painting. I realised there are a few reasons why paint cracks after application, and I wish I’d have known them earlier.

Why is there Crack in Wall After Painting?

  • One big issue I found was surface preparation. I didn’t properly clean or sand the walls before painting, which caused the paint to not stick well.

  • Any dust or old paint layers left behind can create weak spots where the paint eventually cracks. In my case, I skipped priming, which was a mistake.

  • Another problem I felt was the paint itself. I went for a cheaper option to save some cash, but that backfired. It couldn't withstand the temperature changes and started cracking.

  • Lastly, I was a little too eager with the second coat. I didn’t give the first coat enough time to dry, so the paint layers didn’t bond properly.

So, if you’re painting, make sure to prep your walls, use good quality paint, and give each layer plenty of time to dry. I hope my answer will help you save the headache of dealing with wall cracking after painting later.
