The deposit that BESCOM must hold from a customer at any given moment is equal to two months of invoicing. Customers can find the ASD amount at the bottom of the power bills, and it must be paid to BESCOM. Power consumption will inevitably rise along with the cost of electricity due to the nearly yearly growth in power unit prices and the growing number of electrical equipment that consumers use. The Additional Security Deposit is the gap between the security deposit which BESCOM now holds and what is required based on the current billing for consumers.

The ASD is only refunded when a metre is terminated. According to BESCOM representatives, there is very little probability that they will need to issue a refund because most individuals do not turn in their metres or disconnect from the connection.

But I have also seen that BESCOM has occasionally given electricity bill discounts when the amount of the security deposit paid was higher.

I hope this answer was helpful to you.
