Traffic near the railway station signal is daily headache. Autos charge 150 bucks just to go 2 km inside internal layout streets. Rents are like 14k for 2BHK which is okay, but tanker water dependence is real issue...

Very easy to reach by local train from city side. Shanmugam Road market area is always crowded and busy, but you get every item for cheap. Parking your car near the station is impossible though.

Pretty sorted area for young people. Express trains stop right at Tambaram station, bus connectivity to OMR work hubs is smooth, and street food options near Gandhi Road are solid till night.

Water supply is only given for 2 hours in morning, rest we manage with private tankers. Roads near Sanatorium side have bad potholes and drains overflow during heavy rains. Area became very noisy over time.

Rental demand is always high because of college students and suburban commuters. Flats get occupied quickly. Main bottleneck is just the constant GST road vehicular crawl during peak hours.

Drainage system is mess during monsoons, streets get flooded near Chitlapakkam side very fast. Streetlights don't work properly in interior lanes, feels quite unsafe to walk alone after 9 PM.

Schools and hospitals like MEPZ surroundings are very accessible. Local MTC buses run frequently to all parts. However, garbage dumping on roadside corners in East Tambaram needs serious corporation action.

Good hub for shopping household items and connecting to south TN buses. Autos at the bus stand overcharge a lot unless you bargain hard. Decent locality if you rely on public transport.

Everything is within 10 minutes walk... fresh vegetables market, pharmacies, banks, eateries. Local train frequency to Egmore makes life very smooth. Best location in south Chennai for affordable living.
